Frequently Asked Questions

What is the maximum persons Peppers can cater for?

Peppers will cater for up to 50 people for a three-course sit down’ meal, 120 for an informal hot or cold buffet and 150 for evening food.

Please use our options list to make your ideal meals for the day.

Can you lay the tables for us?

Yes, we can lay the tables. The crockery and cutlery is included in the price, along with water glasses (and wine glasses if we are providing the table wine).

Peppers has tablecloths and glass hire service, please ask us about this service.

How many meals should we provide during the day?

This depends on the time of your ceremony. If you are having an afternoon wedding, i.e. pm you may assume that guests will have had lunch before coming so a meal at 5pm with evening food at 9pm works well. If you have an earlier service, you can provide canapes to stem the hunger and keep guests satisfied until later in the day.

It is a good idea to send a copy of your ‘timeline’ for the day to your guests, so they are aware of the mealtimes.

Caroline and Julie will be able to advise and help you with your menus and let you choose whether you want to work the food around the entertainment or vice versa.

Should we serve tea & coffee after the meal?

We see a lot of wasted tea and coffee so recommend that you have a hot beverages ‘station’ set up so guests can help themselves throughout the day.

We prefer the idea of a buffet but don’t want guests standing in a queue…

Peppers recommend a maximum of 40 people per buffet table. To prevent waiting we also suggest that only guests from one table at a time come to the buffet – a job for the best man to organize!

Do we need a seating plan?

Yes, for a seated meal with options, as our waiting staff will need to know where guests are sitting and which meal from the menu they have pre-ordered.

No, if we are providing a menu with no alternatives.

No, for a buffet.

When should we have our speeches?

These can be performed at anytime during the reception, depending on your vision, timings and budget. Some couples want them ‘out of the way’ and have them at their drinks reception straight after the photos, whilst everyone is gathered, using the ‘arrival’ drink as the toast. Others have them during the meal using the table wine as the toast. The majority of weddings perform the speeches after the meal with an extra flute of bubbly.

Should we cut the cake with the speeches?

Yes, you can and then the cake can be portioned and either put out with the tea and coffee or offered with the evening food.

If you are having evening guests, it’s a nice idea to perform the cake cutting just before the first dance so that they see it on display and are involved with some of the formalities.

Can Peppers provide & serve drinks for the arrival, the table, and the toast?

Yes, we can on a ‘sale or return’ basis (only bottles that are open will be charged for). We will chill it, keep it cool during the reception, supply the glasses and dispose of the empties.

Can we supply our own drinks and will you serve them?

Yes, we can provide staffing to serve your drinks – please make sure they are chilled.

We offer a glass hire and bottle disposal service.
